Police Engage Communities on Vandalism and Youth Lawlessness in Freetown
Police in eastern Freetown have launched a major public awareness campaign to stop vandalism and the destruction of essential public property. Officers from the Harbour Division visited busy areas, including Ferry Junction and Cline Town, to speak directly with residents, traders, and youth about protecting vital community assets.
The outreach focused heavily on the widespread theft of EDSA electricity cables from poles and transformers, as well as damaged road signs and billboards. Police warned that destroying power lines cuts off electricity, hurts local businesses, and creates dangerous life-threatening hazards like electrocution.
