Miss Freetown contestant Sheknatu Bangura has joined health officials and community stakeholders in a walk to raise awareness about mental health in Sierra Leone.
The walk took place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, to mark World Mental Health Day. It started at Youyi Building in Brookfields and ended at Family Kingdom.

Bangura, who represents the Central Area in the upcoming Miss Freetown Beauty Pageant, participated alongside government officials, development partners, community leaders and members of the public.

A fifth-year medical student and former housemate on the Big Sister reality show, Bangura said beauty should go beyond physical appearance and include intelligence, compassion and service to society.
She said her pageant campaign will focus on encouraging open discussions about mental health, reducing stigma and helping people understand the importance of emotional, psychological and social well-being.
