Flooding Leaves Gbereh Junction Residents at Risk of Cholera, Displacement
Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding in Gbereh Junction, Port Loko District, leaving over 100 residents displaced and damaging at least 15 homes. Local Councillor Alhaji Sesay raised the alarm during a district council meeting, warning that women and children are among those worst affected by the disaster.
The floodwaters have submerged local water wells, raising urgent public health concerns over cholera and other waterborne diseases. With no functional water supply system in the area, displaced families are currently struggling to access clean drinking water, safe shelter, and basic sanitation.
In response, Port Loko District Council officials promised to work with disaster management teams to deliver emergency aid and restore safe water
