Agriculture Ministry, Partners Step Up Efforts to Eliminate Rabies Deaths by 2030
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and its partners have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
This comes as Bombali District reports a rise in dog bite incidents and suspected rabies cases.
Speaking at the World Rabies Day commemoration in Bo on Monday, Deputy Minister Bryan Smart-Kanu said rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but is entirely preventable.
He outlined government measures, including mass dog vaccination and stronger veterinary surveillance.
He urged pet owners to vaccinate dogs and cats routinely.
