WASSCE Students Face Safety Risks Amid Science Lab Shortage in Kambia and Bonthe
The shortage of science laboratory facilities in rural Sierra Leone is raising concerns over the safe conduct of the ongoing 2026 WASSCE practical examinations, following separate reports from Kambia and Bonthe districts.
Stakeholders described the situation as dangerous and called on the Government and educational authorities to establish and equip science laboratories in underserved communities to prevent students from risking their lives to access examinations.
The students travelled from their area under difficult weather conditions, prompting safety concerns among parents, teachers, and community leaders.
