SLPP Chairman Urges Constituency Chairmen to Await Bio’s Directive on Flagbearer

SLPP National Chairman Jimmy Batilo Songa says constituency chairmen should await a directive from President Julius Maada Bio on who becomes the party’s next flagbearer.

Speaking in Bo, Songa likened Bio’s word to a commandment party members would follow.

He stressed the SLPP has not officially declared a candidate.

But the remarks have sparked backlash from stakeholders demanding a free, fair and transparent selection process — reigniting debate over how the ruling party will choose its 2028 standard-bearer.
