SLPHA Transfers $19 Million to Government Over Three Years as Parliamentary Oversight Intensifies
The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority, SLPHA, has transferred 19 million US dollars to the government over the past three years.
SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio disclosed the figures during a parliamentary oversight visit to the Queen Elizabeth II Quay. The Authority paid 4 million dollars in 2023, 7 million in 2024 and 8 million in 2025.
Bio also told lawmakers that improvements at the port have increased its capacity to handle larger vessels, including Panamax ships. The upgrades are expected to improve cargo operations and support international trade.
