SLFA Announces Plans for New Artificial Turf Football Facilities Across Sierra Leone

August 11, 2026News

The Sierra Leone Football Association has announced major plans to upgrade the country’s sports facilities by building new artificial-turf pitches next year. SLFA President Babadi Kamara revealed the project during an awards night in Freetown, explaining that the new fields will give local players and communities access to top-quality playing surfaces. Lungi has already been selected as one of the key areas set to benefit from the initiative.
The planned expansion aims to boost football development outside the capital by offering young players and local clubs better grounds for training and competitive matches. SLFA leadership has made upgrading sports infrastructure a top priority, viewing modern facilities as essential for nurturing raw talent and growing the game at the grassroots level.
