Pujehun DHMT Calls for Greater Support for Breastfeeding Mothers 2
The Pujehun District Health Management Team (DHMT), in collaboration with health partners and community stakeholders, has commemorated World Breastfeeding Week with renewed calls for stronger support for breastfeeding mothers as part of efforts to improve maternal and child health.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, community leaders, pregnant women and lactating mothers to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and the importance of creating supportive environments that enable mothers to breastfeed successfully.
The programme was held under the theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
Delivering the opening address, District Surveillance Lead of the Pujehun DHMT, Alhaji Mahmoud Conteh, urged families, communities, healthcare workers and development partners to strengthen existing systems that encourage, protect and promote breastfeeding.
