NCD Official Calls for Competence-Based Politics in Sierra Leone
The Director of Programmes at the National Commission for Democracy (NCD), Rev. Gibrilla Kargbo, has called for a shift in Sierra Leone’s political culture, urging citizens and political actors to prioritise competence and merit over party affiliation when choosing national leaders.
According to him, political competition should be centred on ideas, policies, integrity, and leadership ability rather than partisan identity. He warned that when political allegiance becomes the primary basis for decision-making, national development and effective governance can suffer.
