Pastor Mohamed Samuel Kamara, leader of the newly established Liberation People’s Party (LPP), has outlined his vision for tackling youth unemployment and strengthening Sierra Leone’s economy during his first television interview.

Youth employment: He wants to create systems that generate sustainable jobs rather than making specific job-creation promises without clear mechanisms.

Foreign investment: Kamara supports attracting international investors but says they should also train Sierra Leoneans and transfer skills.

Mineral resources: He wants more minerals such as gold and bauxite to be processed locally, instead of exporting raw materials.

Technology and monitoring: He proposed using technology to track mineral deposits, extraction and movement to reduce illegal removal of resources.

Local empowerment: His broader goal is to develop Sierra Leoneans’ skills and capacity so they can eventually own, invest in and manage businesses and natural resources themselves.
