Land Ministry Certifies 18 Surveyors to Advance Land Administration Reform

September 15, 2026News

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning has certified and licensed 18 land surveyors to practice professionally in Sierra Leone.

The ceremony was held Friday at the Ministry’s Freetown headquarters.

Director of Surveys and Lands, Tamba Dauda, praised the surveyors’ discipline and training, noting the licensing is grounded in the Survey Act of 1950 — and represents the State’s formal confirmation that they meet required professional standards. He stressed their role in defining land rights, reducing boundary disputes and guiding infrastructure development.

The National Land Commission welcomed the move as timely, as the country advances toward a modern land title system.

Minister Dr. Turad Senesie urged the new surveyors to maintain competence, accuracy and ethical standards — calling certification the start of their professional responsibility to serve the country.
