“I Joined Wonde Society” – Edmond Abu Challenges Pastor Mambu Over Cannibalism Claim
Activist Edmond Abu has pushed back on claims linking the Wonde Society to cannibalism, saying he personally joined the society in 1986 and is now a born-again Christian.
Responding to allegations attributed to Pastor Mambu, Abu said secretive or ritualistic practices in traditional societies shouldn’t automatically be read as evidence of cannibalism, while stressing continued respect for the pastor’s ministry.
He pointed to a historical currency note bearing imagery he associated with the society, questioning claims it was banned in 1885 given the note’s later introduction — though he acknowledged those historical details need verification.
Abu said he no longer wants Wonde Society members involved in his own burial, and that he’d raised the allegations with his own children, encouraging people to weigh the evidence carefully rather than take claims at face value.
