Freetown Polytechnic Students Boycott Exams Over Poor Conditions, Alleged Mismanagement

August 14, 2025News

Students at Freetown Polytechnic’s Jui Campus have stopped writing their ongoing exams in protest over poor campus conditions and concerns about how the school is being run.
The strike action began earlier this week, with large groups of students refusing to enter exam halls. They say they are fed up with the state of the campus and the way important issues have been handled by the administration.
The students have listed several problems that they say have gone on for too long. These include not having enough chairs and desks in classrooms, frequent electricity outages, no access to internet facilities, and not being able to view or receive their grades for completed courses. Some students also say they are worried about how money is being managed within the institution, pointing to suspected corruption and a lack of clear communication from school authorities.
