Former President Koroma Returns to Sierra Leone for ECOWAS Summit, Welcomed by Mayor Aki Sawyerr

Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has made a historic return to Sierra Leone to attend the high-level ECOWAS Mid-year Summit. Arriving as a designated guest of President Julius Maada Bio, his return marks the first time he has set foot in the country in exactly two years and six months. The grand regional event is being hosted at the newly constructed Julius Maada Bio Conference Centre in Lungi, bringing together West African heads of state, policymakers, and international dignitaries to deliberate on matters of regional cooperation, peace, and development.
His arrival at Freetown International Airport in Lungi generated massive public interest and a warm local reception, led by the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr. Sharing her delight on her official Facebook page, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr posted a welcoming message alongside a photograph with the former Head of State, writing, “It was wonderful to receive former President H. E. Ernest Bai Koroma at Lungi this morning. Grateful for this day.”
