Correctional Service Denies Rumours of Zainab Sheriff’s Death

The Sierra Leone Correctional Service has denied social media rumours that detained activist Zainab Sheriff has died, calling the reports “Fake News” and confirming she is “reliably alive.”

The Service says Sheriff fell ill, received medical care, and is recovering. Sheriff, jailed since April for incitement and threatening language after APC rally remarks, is currently appealing her four-year sentence.

Her aunt recently visited and confirmed she is alive but unwell.
