Bai Bureh Warriors’ Shot Stopper Earns Leone Stars Look After Record Campaign
Bai Bureh Warriors goalkeeper Amara Kamara has earned a call-up to the Leone Stars home-based squad following an impressive domestic season.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper played all 34 Premier League matches for his club. He conceded only 20 goals and recorded a league-high 19 clean sheets.
Bai Bureh Warriors also finished the season with the best defensive record in the Premier League. Despite his performance, Kamara was not selected for the league’s Goalkeeper of the Season or Team of the Season awards, according to club officials.
Kamara previously played for Young Boys in Lungi before securing a permanent place at Bai Bureh Warriors. He also received several Man of the Match awards for strong performances.
Leone Stars coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa has included Kamara in the 27-man home-based squad as preparations continue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He has also been included in the provisional U-20 AFCON WAFU Zone A squad.
The national team call-up gives Kamara an opportunity to prove himself at international level. His selection also highlights the growing competition among goalkeepers in Sierra Leone’s domestic football.
