Ambassador Zhao Yong Reveals $2 3 Billion China Sierra Leone Trade in 2025
China-Sierra Leone trade hit two-point-three billion dollars in 2025 — nearly 30% up on the previous year.
Chinese Ambassador Zhao Yong announced the figures at a media open day marking 55 years of diplomatic ties, revealing Sierra Leone’s exports to China jumped over 40% last year, with zero-tariff treatment fueling the growth.
Talks are underway to widen exports beyond fish to palm oil, coffee and cocoa.
Zhao also confirmed easier visa rules for Sierra Leonean travellers, with over six thousand visiting China in 2025 alone.
