Alleged Scammer Intercepted Over Suspected Le100 Million Fake Overseas Travel Scheme in Makeni
A group of young people in Makeni have intercepted an alleged scammer accused of cheating a man out of more than 100,000 Leones in a fake overseas travel scheme. The victim, a Gambian national, says he was tricked into making multiple payments in cash and mobile transfers after being promised a job opportunity abroad.
The accused man, Sajor Jalloh, denies taking the full amount, claiming he only received 2,000 US dollars. He says he recently joined a company called Ignite to find work and had no intention of defrauding anyone. Following a confrontation with the victim, Jalloh agreed to arrange a full refund.
