Constitutional Amendment Bill Debate Adjourned to Monday, August 10
Parliament has postponed debate on the Constitution of Sierra Leone Amendment Bill, 2025, until Monday, August 10.
The debate was delayed after lengthy discussions between the ruling party and the opposition over several proposed constitutional changes.
The Bill includes reforms on the electoral system, qualifications for public office, and women’s political participation.
Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay said the reforms are intended to modernise the country’s Constitution.
He also confirmed that proposed changes to entrenched constitutional clauses have been removed from the current Bill.
Parliament is expected to resume debate next week as lawmakers continue discussions on the proposed reforms.
