SLPP MP Reveals APC Also Backed PR and 50%+1 Presidential Threshold

An SLPP MP says proposed changes to Sierra Leone’s electoral system are not new ideas created by the current government. Speaking on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Gevao said both main political parties have long backed these reforms.
Gevao pointed out that Proportional Representation and a lowered presidential voting threshold were first accepted by the former APC administration. The SLPP later agreed to the same changes in its own official White Paper.
