Government Defends 2025 Constitutional Amendment Bill as Product of Tripartite Agreement
The Government has defended the 2025 Constitutional Amendment Bill, saying its major provisions came from agreements reached during the Tripartite Committee process.
SLPP MP Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Gevao made the statement at Tuesday’s Government Weekly Press Conference in Freetown.
He said the committee was formed after concerns about Sierra Leone’s electoral system following the 2023 elections.
Gevao said the parties agreed on several issues, including reducing the presidential election threshold from 55 percent to 50 percent plus one.
