Transform Sierra Leone Engages Madina Community on WASH, Environmental Conservation

Transform Sierra Leone has held an inception meeting with residents and stakeholders in Madina, Makpele Chiefdom, Pujehun District, to discuss water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental conservation.
The organisation explained its planned activities and stressed that community participation will be important for the success of the project.

Town Chief Unisa Massaquoi welcomed the initiative and thanked Transform Sierra Leone for reaching the community despite its difficult road network.

Residents pledged to support activities such as constructing compost fences, plate racks, clotheslines and handwashing stations.

They also said the community has a reserved bush that could be used to support environmental conservation activities.

However, residents appealed for additional support, including a barrier, bridge, toilets and a water pump, saying these needs continue to affect their daily lives.
