Three Escape Death After Boat Sinks on Taia River

A frightening scene on the Taia River in Moyamba District, after a boat carrying three people and a cargo of cane sticks ran out of fuel, took on water, and sank near the Waifor crossing.

Two passengers swam to safety, but boat rider David Sama went missing for hours, triggering a community search.

He was found alive that night clinging to tree branches near Momenga Village.

Residents are now appealing to government and NGOs for a safer, more reliable crossing boat.
