APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Explains Dispute With PPRC Over Party Leadership
Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has clarified its ongoing legal battle with the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC). Party official Mohamed Pope Kamara explained that the court case was filed by a district chairman to get a clear ruling on how the party’s constitution should be applied.
Kamara stressed that the PPRC is not taking sides in the dispute, but is simply trying to follow the APC constitution. However, he argued that while the commission has the legal power to extend an executive board’s time in office, it does not have the authority to choose who sits on an interim leadership body.
