A Sierra Leonean police officer has been killed while guarding disputed land in Madonkeh, near Waterloo. Authorities say the officer, who was protecting a property under a court injunction, was attacked by an armed gang, disarmed, and killed with machetes.
Security forces quickly deployed to the area, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Police arrested over 20 suspects, including two serving soldiers from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces. One of the soldiers was reportedly found holding the murdered officer’s stolen rifle.
