Wurie Stands Firm No Reinstatement for MMTU Vice Chancellor

Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr Haja Ramatulai Wurie, has rejected a reported parliamentary recommendation for the reinstatement of suspended Milton Margai Technical University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip John Kanu.

Speaking to Radio Democracy, Dr Wurie said she had not received any instruction from Parliament to reinstate Professor Kanu and stressed that institutions must respect their constitutional responsibilities.

Professor Kanu was suspended in April 2026 following an investigation into alleged irregularities in a staff recruitment exercise, including claims that interview scores were changed after the interviews.
