ECSL Considers Use of AI for 2028 Sierra Leone Elections

The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) is exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen electoral processes ahead of the 2028 general elections, following a courtesy visit from a youth-led organisation on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Mr Edmond Sylvester Alpha, received a delegation from the Victory Teens Organisation (VTO) at the Commission’s Headquarters on Tower Hill, Freetown. The organisation, which focuses on equipping young people with AI skills and competencies, expressed interest in partnering with ECSL to explore innovative ways of using AI to strengthen electoral education and youth participation in electoral processes.
