Pope Kamara Warns Political Tensions Could Have Sparked Conflict in Sierra Leone
Former APC Deputy Publicity Secretary Mohamed Pope Kamara has warned that growing political frustration could have pushed Sierra Leone into violent conflict.
Kamara made the statement during an appearance on AYV’s Front Page. He said young people in the opposition have faced what he described as political harassment, exclusion and growing frustration.
He claimed that security deployments in opposition strongholds, including Makeni and Tombo, contributed to tensions. Kamara also alleged that people were killed during some security operations, although those claims require independent verification.
He said the situation could have become much worse if young people had been left to respond on their own. Kamara credited senior APC members with helping to calm supporters during periods of political tension.
