Sierra Leone’s U-17 national team, the Sierra Stars, suffered a heavy 5–0 defeat to hosts Senegal in their opening Group A match of the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) WAFU-A Qualification Tournament.

The Group A encounter was played on Thursday evening, September 10, 2026, with Senegal producing a dominant display to claim all three points and leave Sierra Leone with a difficult start to their qualification campaign.

The Sierra Stars struggled to contain Senegal’s attacking pressure as the hosts controlled the tempo and capitalised on defensive lapses throughout the encounter.
