Sierra Leone Secures Five Year Accreditation for Postgraduate Radiology Training

The accreditation was granted by the West African College of Physicians and covers both Specialist and Fellowship training.

The development means doctors can now receive advanced Radiology training within Sierra Leone instead of travelling abroad for the programme.

Radiology becomes the ninth postgraduate medical programme accredited at the Teaching Hospitals Complex. Other accredited areas include Surgery, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Anaesthesia and Psychiatry.

Preparations are also underway to seek accreditation for Haematology and Ophthalmology. The Ministry of Health says the expansion will help strengthen specialist medical training in the country.
