PPRC Cautions SLPP and APC Over Hate Speech and Incitement
The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has today convened a crucial meeting with the leadership of Sierra Leone’s two major political parties the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) at its headquarters in Freetown.
The meeting, chaired by PPRC Chairman Abdulai M. Bangurah, seeks to address growing concerns over the use of inciting language and hate speech by members and supporters of both parties. Recent political exchanges on social media and at public gatherings have raised fears of deepening political divisions and potential unrest.
According to the PPRC, the purpose of the engagement is to remind the two leading political entities of their responsibility to promote peace, tolerance, and national cohesion, especially at a time when Sierra Leone continues to consolidate its democratic gains.
