National Tourist Board Gives 7-Working Days Ultimatum to Tourist Establishments to Settle Outstanding Fees, Renew Licenses
The National Tourist Board (NTB) of Sierra Leone has issued a stern warning to tourist establishments that have failed to fulfill their statutory obligations for the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years.
According to a press release dated November 17, 2025, the NTB has granted a final grace period of seven working days for those establishments to regularize their status by settling all outstanding fees and renewing their licenses.
The NTB’s move is aimed at ensuring compliance with the Tourism Development Act of 1990, which mandates all tourist establishments to secure and maintain valid operational licenses. The affected establishments include hotels, guest houses, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, travel agencies, casinos, and tour operators.
In a statement, the NTB noted, “The National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone (NTB), acting in accordance with the Tourism Development Act of 1990, wishes to inform the public and all stakeholders in the tourism sector that numerous licensed establishments have failed to fulfill their statutory obligations for both the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years.”
