DSTI, SLRA Sign MoU to Launch Nationwide Road Asset Management System
The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement a nationwide Road Asset Management System (RAMS) with an integrated mobile field application. The initiative marks a major step toward modernizing how the country’s roads, bridges, culverts, and related infrastructure are documented, monitored, and maintained.
Under the partnership, SLRA will adopt a centralized digital platform to record every road asset with precise GPS coordinates, photographic evidence, and standardized condition assessments captured by field engineers. The system is designed to shift maintenance practices from reactive repairs to predictive, data-driven interventions, reducing costs and improving safety.
